New Jersey race 1 - all three AIM cars in the top ten
Incidents have all three fighting back up the field

Millville, NJ (2009.06.13) After struggles in qualifying and some off-track excursions in the race, AIM Autosport's Peter Dempsey (3), David Ostella (71) and Jorge Goncalvez (72) all fought back to finish in the top ten in race one of this weekend's double-header at New Jersey Motorsport Park.

Dempsey was the biggest benefactor in the race coming to sixth having started fifteenth. He would steadily move up the field then took advantage of a late yellow that closed up the lead group and on the restart, made up more positions. Peter made a couple of attempts on fifth place late in the going but the tires were going off and he was fighting for rear grip. He would hold on for sixth and remains second overall in the championship.

Goncalvez had a great start from ninth on the grid and was sitting fifth by the end of the first lap. He held fifth through the early laps but a brief off-track excursion cost him track position falling back to eleventh. Jorge was also able to take advantage of two restarts to pick up positions and he would end the day in ninth. He remains sixth in the championship.

Ostella paced himself and picked his points to move up from seventeenth on the starting grid. He certainly had the pace recording the second fastest lap of the race but it is another thing to get through traffic. David made his way up to tenth at the checkers for his second best finish of the season (ninth-VIR) He has moved up one place in the championship to a tie for twelfth.

"All three of the drivers did a good job today" commented team manager Keith Willis. "They were running the same pace as the leaders but passing here is pretty difficult so we are pleased that Peter, David and Jorge could all make it into the top ten. The goal now is to improve our starting positions in qualifying for the race on Sunday afternoon."

Qualifying for race two takes place at 9:20 a.m. ET Sunday morning with the race at 2:00 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on HDNet (check you local listings for availability)
