Star Mazda Road Atlanta Race
Tough day for AIM Autosport

(2009.09.25) Round 12 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear got off to an inauspicious start for David Ostella (71) who suffered mechanical problems at the drop of the green flag and was not able to complete a lap. Jorge Goncalvez would move up to ninth (from 11th) on lap one but would also experience some issues that saw him drop back. After falling to twelfth he would recover in the latter stages of the fifty-minute race and move into eleventh place where he finished.

"It was just a disappointing day for the drivers and the team" commented team manager Keith Willis. "We had been picking up momentum through the week but it all came apart today with mechanical issues that took us out of contention. We will now regroup back at the shop and get ready for the final race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in two weeks."

Star Mazda Road Atlanta Qualifying
Shortened qualifying session - David to start P9, Jorge P11

(2009.09.24) Qualifying for the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear took place this afternoon at Road Atlanta. David Ostella missed the split for the 20-car field and went out in the first group but had a great run going second quickest in the session. Jorge Goncalvez would qualify with the fast group but their session was cut short due to a lengthy cleanup when another car blew its engine leaving a lot of oil on the track. Jorge put in a strong effort but could not get in a clean lap during the session to advance up the starting order.

David (71) will start from the inside of row five with Jorge (72) lined up behind him on the inside of row six for the race on Friday afternoon. The race is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. ET
